Kin and galactic signatures

Every day carries one of 260 kin. A kin's name — colour, galactic tone and solar seal — is its galactic signature, the flavour of the day. Kin 1 is Red Magnetic Dragon; the round closes 260 days later on Kin 260, Yellow Cosmic Sun, and begins again.

Because 13 and 20 have no common factor, the two gears only realign after 260 days. That interlocking rhythm, 13:20, is the heart of the Dreamspell: natural time as a ratio rather than a mechanical clock.

The 20 solar seals

The solar seal says what a day is about. Each seal carries a power, an action and an essence — Red Dragon is birth, nurture, being; Blue Eagle is vision, create, mind; Yellow Sun is universal fire, enlighten, life.

Seals move through four colour families in order: Red initiates, White refines, Blue transforms, Yellow ripens. The colour of the day is the colour of its seal.

The 13 galactic tones

The tone is the gear the day turns in. Tone 1 Magnetic sets purpose, tone 5 Overtone empowers, tone 9 Solar realises intention, tone 13 Cosmic transcends. Drawn in Maya bar-and-dot notation, a dot is one and a bar is five.

The oracle cross

Five seals read as one figure. The centre is the destiny kin — the day itself. The Guide leads it, the Analog supports it, the Antipode challenges it and the Occult holds its hidden gift. Read clockwise, the cross describes the whole texture of a day.

Wavespells and the five castles

Thirteen days move together as a wavespell, from magnetic purpose to cosmic presence. Four wavespells make a castle of 52 kin: the Eastern Castle of Turning, the Northern Castle of Crossing, the Western Castle of Burning, the Southern Castle of Giving and the Central Castle of Enchantment.

The 13-Moon year and the plasmas

Alongside the Tzolk'in runs a solar year of 13 perfect moons of 28 days, starting July 26 and named Magnetic Bat through Cosmic Turtle. Each seven-day moon week carries a plasma: Dali, Seli, Gamma, Kali, Alpha, Limi, Silio. July 25, the Day Out of Time, sits outside the count.

The kin of July 26 is the year bearer, the signature that colours the entire 13-Moon year.

The Dreamspell is a perpetual 365-day count. February 29 is not assigned its own kin — it shares February 28's signature — so any given calendar date always falls on the same day of the 13-Moon year. This is the single detail most online kin calculators get wrong.
